Q&A – Can verticillium wilt spread to other plants?
Question:
Can verticillium wilt spread to other plants?
Answer:
Verticillium wilt is caused by a soil born fungus. Retired MSU Extension Horticulture Specialist Dr. Lelia Kelly says the fungus that causes verticillium wilt is very common in the soil, and some plants are more susceptible to it than others. The wilt is not catching, in other words it cannot spread from one plant to another like humans and the common cold. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond provided this list of plants that are resistant to verticillium wilt: Plants Resistant or Susceptible to Verticillium Wilt
