Q&A – My blackberries used to be sweet now they are sour. Why?
Question:
My blackberries used to be sweet now they are sour. Why?
Answer:
Extension Agent, Celeste Scott, says it could be that the plants have become shaded over time. Plants use sunlight to make sugar. If they don’t have as much light they may produce sour fruit.
Extension Agent, Chris Cooper, says the problem could also be caused by too little water during fruit development. This causes sour or bitter fruit in many kinds of plants.
