What is this on the side of this tree?
Answer:
This is a fungus of some sort. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says she was not able to identify it, but thinks it may be a type of fungus called an earth ball or puff ball. It is growing on something that is decaying. She does not think it will harm the tree.
