Chives: Beauty and Flavor in the Garden

Chives are a beautiful and easy-to-grow perennial herb that every gardener should consider adding to their garden. In this video, we highlight their attractive pink-purple blooms that appear in late spring, typically around May, and show how they naturally attract bees and other beneficial pollinators. Chives thrive in full sun and well-drained soil, form tidy clumps, and generally reach 12–18 inches in height with very few pest or disease issues. You’ll also learn simple harvesting tips—just cut leaves near the base and the plant will quickly regrow, making it a reliable, cut-and-come-again herb. Even the flowers are edible, adding both beauty and flavor to your garden and kitchen.
