Can I trim off the Bottom Branches on my maple trees?
Yes, you can. You should remove the suckers growing from the base of the tree. You can also remove some of the lower branches. UT Extension Agent Joseph Seago says to make sure you don’t remove more than a third of the tree canopy at any one time. You should also not prune in freezing weather.
