Do I need to cut off the top of my whip-like kousa dogwood sapling?
When a tree is young and only has the trunk and no branches you can tip – or cut off the top few inches – of the tree. This will make the lower buds turn into branches and will fill out the tree. Joellen Dimond and Celeste Scott talk about different ways to do this and the results.
