What are these metallic-looking beetles on my rose?
These are dark flower scarabs, or commonly the spangled flower beetle. The larvae feed on decaying organic matter, the adults feed on nectar and pollen and occasionally, the leaves of the plant. They should not be a problem unless there are a large number of them. Generally they don’t need to be controlled, but if they do you can knock them into a bucket of warm soapy water.
