What is this stuff? A: Dog Vomit Fungus - Everything You
Need to Know

This is what is commonly called “Dog Vomit Fungus.” UT Horticulture Specialist Celeste Scott says it is really not a fungus, but it grows and consumes other bacteria and fungus in the environment along with decaying organic matter. The technical name for the growth is a plasmodium. She explains the life cycle of the organism and it’s benefits to the gardener.
