Why do my beefsteak tomatoes only grow to baseball size?

There are many varieties of beefsteak tomatoes and some do better in different areas of the country. Try a different variety. Also, if you grow in pots or boxes your soil may be exhausted of nutrients and need to be changed. Small tomatoes could also be caused by poor pollination, or insufficient water.
