Why do our pecan trees only produce very small pecans?

This tree’s genetics says it will produce small pecans, but this may not be as bad as it sounds. Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison says some of the tastiest pecans are from a variety called “Elliot,” which is a small pecan.
