Q&A – Can I sprinkle lime at the base of a plant?
Question:
Can I sprinkle lime at the base of a plant?
Answer:
This will kill the plant. Lime is alkaline (opposite of acid) but it can be just as caustic. To know how much lime to put on your soil get a soil test. A simple pH test will tell you the pH of the soil but not a recommendation of how much lime to add. A soil test with recommendations will tell you the pH and also how much lime to add to bring the pH into a desirable range.
