Q&A – How do I kill fescue in my Bermuda lawn?

Question:
How do I kill tall fescue grass in my Bermuda lawn?

Answer:
Tall Fescue is a cool season grass, so it will be green and growing through the winter when Bermuda grass is dormant. This is the best time to try to control it. Spot spraying or broadcasting glyphosate when the Bermuda is dormant will kill the fescue. Glyphosate will kill the Bermuda if it is growing so be sure it is totally dormant. If you need to kill the fescue while the Bermuda is active Image will work. Image is much more expensive than glyphosate, so you might want to wait until winter.
