Should Lilacs be deadheaded?
They don’t have to be deadheaded, but if you want to, wait until 2-3 weeks after the flowers have faded. If you leave the blooms the birds will eat the seeds during the winter. Deadheading lilacs does not improve the next year’s blooms.
