Q&A – What are the differences between bush and pole beans?
Question:
We like Blue Lake green beans. We planted the bush variety and they did well this year. We want to consider planting the pole version next year. Are there any differences between bush and pole beans we should prepare for?
Answer:
Bush beans produce all their beans over a short period of time and grow in more of a bush form – hence the name. Pole beans are a vine that run. You will need a trellis for them to climb. Also, pole beans produce fewer beans but over a much longer time. In the end the pole beans will produce more beans.
