Q&A – What is this plant and is it a weed or wildflower? -Butterweed

Question:
Is this a weed or a wildflower? Several came up in my backyard.

Answer:
This is butterweed. Gardening Expert Tonya Ashworth says it can be a weed or a wildflower depending on if you like it. It is also known as Cressleaf Groundsel. It is in the aster family and is a winter annual. It forms leaves through the winter months then a flower stock with small yellow flowers in the spring. Butterweed likes moist soils.
