Extension Service

Shelby County Extension Director Jim Todd talks about Extension. Over 100 years ago the federal government granted land to the states to use for agricultural research. This land was then given to universities to provide teaching and research for the benefit of the residents of that state.  To get that research and teaching to the public they created an “extension service.”  March is Extension Month and Jim talks about various activities that will be happening this month. Jim then talks about the many programs available from Shelby County Extension, everything from the Master Gardening program to nutrition classes to working with local schools.
