Herbicide Modes Of Action

Retired UT Extension agent, Mike Dennison talks about herbicide "modes of action."  Each mode of action attacks the plant in a different way. If herbicides with the same mode of action are used for too long plants will build up a resistance to that more of action. Because of this you need to make sure you rotate among modes of action in order avoid the resistance and keep the killing power of your herbicides.  With so many varieties of herbicide out there it's essential to know what you're buying and how best to utilize it safely in your garden.
