Lettuce

Master Gardener Tom Mashour talks about lettuce. There are three main kinds of lettuce: head or iceberg, romaine, and leaf. Iceberg lettuce requires a long cool season to grow so it is hard to grow in the Mid-South. Romaine is much better in this climate and has very few bug problems. Leaf lettuce can also be grown. One of the great things about lettuce is that it can be eaten from the time it sprouts so you can eat the thinnings out of your garden.
