Planting Peppers
Haywood County Extension Director Walter Battle shows how to plant peppers. Walter uses peppers planted in peat pots. Peppers should be planted deeper than the pot. Cutwoms can be a problem with young transplants so Walter puts two nails in the ground, one on each side of the stem to protect the pepper plants. Planting hot and bell peppers close together can result in cross pollination, the bell peppers can be hotter than normal as a result. Mulch will help keep the soil moist and help prevent weeds. Water in the morning to let give the foliage a chance to dry before evening.
