Planting Tomatoes
Walter Battle plants his tomato plants so that a good portion of the plant is under the soil surface. He also demonstrates using two nails to discourage cut worms from eating the young tomato plants. Also, he shows a trick for preventing blossom end rot – a lack of calcium. He adds some crushed antacid to each planting hole to provide an easy source of calcium to the plants. Walter then shows how he suckers or cuts off some lower branches of the plants to encourage better growth and production.
