Q&A - Are withered peach leaves toxic?
Question:
I purchased a peach tree. I have not planted it yet because the weather is too cold. Are withered peach leaves toxic? I want to know that the is safe to plant in my back yard about 8 ft from my garden?
Answer:
TSU extension Agent Joellen Dimond says they do contain cyanide. You should not eat them or allow your animals to eat them. The question also asks if the leaves would be a problem in the garden. Joellen does not think so. She does recommend collecting fallen leaves because of the disease issues with peaches but the garden should be fine.
