Q&A - Can I kill squash vine borers with insecticide?
Question:
I think I have vine borers in my squash. Can I control them with insecticides?
Answer:
Squash Vine Borer cannot be killed with insecticide after it is in the plant. Vine borer can be prevented by regular applications of insecticide at the base of the plant. Start applications when the plants are small and continuing through the growing season. The whole plant does not need to be sprayed. The UT Redbook recommends Carbaryl, bifenthrin, Zeta-cypermethrin, esfenvalerate, permethrin, and spinosad. Read and follow label directions.
