Q&A - How do I get rid of ants around my purpletops?
Question:
I planted purpletop seeds and now I see all kinds of ants. What can I use to destroy the ants and not hurt the purpletop plants?
Answer:
There are several ways to get rid of the ants. If it is possible, disturbing the soil around the plants and ant mounds for a few days will cause the ants to move to a new area. If the plants are growing in such a way that you can’t disturb the soil there are several baits you can use, but away from the plants. The ants may also be a sign of an aphid problem. The ants may be farming the aphids.
