Q&A - Is there any hope for my dogwood tree?

Question:
Is there any hope for my dogwood tree? If so, do you have a recommended treatment?

Answer:
This dogwood tree looks a little thin but over-all from the pictures it looks okay. The bark is flaking off but the tree may be a Kousa dogwood, which does that normally.  If you think the tree is not healthy inspect it for dogwood borer and treat accordingly. If you are spraying herbicides around the tree, make sure the spray is not drifting on to the tree. It is possible a late freeze may have affected the new leaves but it will grow out of that and next year will appear normal.
