Q&A - My blueberry bush is sick. What can I do?
Question:
One of my older blueberry bushes (probably about 6 years old) is sick. The older part of the bush is brown. The berries were small and just shriveled up. There does appear to be new growth coming out at the bottom. What should I do to save my bush? Thanks so much. I love my blueberry bushes.
Answer:
It is possible that this problem may be caused by poor drainage where the blueberries are planted. Check for good drainage and also to see if the pH of the soil is correct. Blueberries like very acidic soils. If a soil test shows the soils are too alkaline you may need to acidify the soil. There is new growth on the plant so it may be sufficient to just prune off the bead branches.
