Q&A - What is this plant? (Ajuga)
Question:
This plant/weed starting growing in my yard and it had small purple flowers on it in the spring that attracted bees. I am thinking I might transplant it to my front yard on my hill so I won't have to mow there. It is very low to the ground. Can you tell me what this is?
Answer:
This plant is a Ajuga, also known as Bugleweed. It is a low ground cover that forms a mat that blocks out weeds in the area. It likes to grow in part shade. It blooms with purple flowers but there are some cultivars that have other color blooms.
