Q&A - When is the best time to plant tulip bulbs?
Question:
When is the best time to plant tulip bulbs?
Answer:
UT Extension Horticultural Specialist Carol Reese says the best time to plant tulip bulbs in the Mid-South is in November or when it starts to get cold - when the night time temperatures are between 40 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Even if you did not get your bulbs in the ground until January there would still be enough winter left to satisfy the chill requirements to make the bulb grow in spring. They may just come up a little late.
