Q&A - When should I start treating for bagworms?
Question:
When should I start treating for bagworms? I am already seeing small bugs on my junipers.
Answer:
Bagworms need to be treated before they form bags. May and June are the best time to treat for bagworms. Use a product containing Bacillus thuringiensis (BT). When the bagworm eats BT it will die. Other insecticides also work. Once the bagworm has entered the bag, they are not eating and insecticides cannot penetrate the bag. If you have waited too long and they are in the bag you can pull the bags off the plant and destroy them.
