Q&A - When and where should I plant poppies?

Question:
I bought some poppy flower seeds on E-bay the seller is from Washington State and their growing guide is based on growing them in Washington State, I tried to grow them in my front yard last year and they died. I still have some seeds left and I want to Try again this year in a different area. When and where should I plant poppies And how should I take care of them?

Answer:
Poppies need well drained soil. If you do not have success in the ground you can try growing them in a raised bed or container with porous soil. Poppy seeds need to be cold stratified in order to germinate.
