Q&A - Why are the leaves of my boxwood falling off?
Question:
Several of my boxwoods have leaves at the tips that are turning brown and dropping off. There are piles of leaves under the shrubs, and the tips are all bare, as if something has eaten them clean. What is causing the leaves on my boxwoods to fall off?
Answer:
Boxwood leaves can fall off for a number of reasons but because of the stem lesions you can see in the picture it may be boxwood blight. Boxwood blight is caused by a fungus. The fungus causes leaf spots, stem lesions, defoliation and eventually death of the plant. It is treatable but is very difficult, so it is best to pull it out and replace it with another kind of plant.
