Q&A - Can I use grass clippings as mulch?
Question:
I want to mulch my vegetables with grass clipings. Should I let them dry out prior to collecting them from the yard or can I collect them green and place them around the plants?
Answer:
Grass clippings can make a good mulch but using green clipping will rob the soil of nitrogen. Let the clippings dry out before you use them as mulch. Remember, that if you or a lawn service have applied a chemical to your lawn do not use the next three mowings for mulch or compost. The chemicals may harm the plants you are mulching.
