Q&A -- Is it okay to prune my Brown Turkey Fig tree?
Question:
I have a brown turkey fig tree. I have never pruned it and I need to do something. It is planted close to the side of the house and it is up to the gutter. Is it okay to prune it?
Answer:
The best way to shape of a fig tree is to prune it when it is small. The best time to prune is the late winter or early spring. Prune out dead branches and cold damage. It is possible if the winter is hard the fig tree may have frozen back to the ground. It will grow back from the ground.
