Q&A - What is the Best Way to Treat Fire Ants?
Question:
I have some huge ant mounds near the curb by the mailbox. What is the best way to treat them? And why are some mounds larger than others?
Answer:
The size of the fire ant mound is dependent somewhat on the number of ants but more on the moisture in the ground. The ants use the mound to keep their eggs at a constant humidity by moving them higher or lower. If you kick a fire ant mound every day the colony will move to a new location. There are also insecticides that will treat fire ants.
