Q&A – Can I kill chamberbitter seeds by covering my bed with a tarp in the hot summer sun?
Question:
Can I kill chamberbitter seeds by covering my bed with a tarp in the hot summer sun?
Answer:
This process is called solarization, but it will work much better with a clear piece of plastic. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says there might not be enough hot weather left for it to work this year. She recommends doing this to half the garden next year and the other half the year after that. In the meantime, using lots of mulch will help discourage the chamber bitter from germinating.
