Q&A – Can I prune my Yaupon and
Ligustrum below the greenery?
Question:
My dwarf yaupon and waxed-leaf ligustrum have gotten too large. If I trim them below the greenery will they grow back? and if so, when is the best time to do this?
Answer:
Yes, you can. TSU Extension Agent Joellen Dimond says the best time to cut them back is in the spring after it warms up - end of April or early May in the Mid-South. The plant coming out of winter dormancy will have the energy it needs to put on new growth.
