Q&A – Can I use neem oil to eliminate the green worms on my roses?

Question:
Can I use neem oil to eliminate the green worms on my roses?

Answer:

These green worms are the larvae of the rose slug also know as rose sawfly. UT Extension Agent Chris Cooper says the larvae feed on the underside of the leaves and can skeletonize the leaves. He says the rose plant can tolerate the damage and you don’t have to treat the problem. If you do want to treat, he suggests a few low impact insecticides you can use (including neem oil).
