Q&A – Does this coloring on my oak leaves indicate a disease?
Question:
My oak tree started dropping leaves early. Do I need to be concerned?
Answer:
This is a fungal leaf spot. UT Extension Agent Chris Cooper says this year had a wet spring and that coupled with the drought like conditions recently have made this more apparent than usual. This will not harm the tree this late in the year, but collect the leaves that fall and bag them up for the trash. The fungal spores are on the leaves waiting for rain to splash them back up into the air to land on another leaf.
