Q&A – For a new garden what do I need to do now to get the soil ready for next year?
Question:
I just moved here from the north and the soil is different than I am used to, it is clay. I want to plant a garden next year. What do I need to do now to get the soil ready?
Answer:
Starting to prepare the soil in the fall is great. Kill the plants that are now growing in the plot using a herbicide like glyphosate. Once they are dead, have the plot tilled and then add lots of well composted organic matter or top soil.
