Q&A – How do I control root knot nematodes in my garden?

Question:
How do I control root knot nematodes in my garden?

Answer:

Root knot nematodes can decimate certain crops in the vegetable garden. UT Assistant Professor of Residential and Consumer Horticulture Natalie Bumgarner suggests rotating the garden and plant plants that the nematodes don’t like in the areas where you have problems. She also suggests looking for varieties that are nematode resistant. She also gives some other options. It will be a long process to get the nematode population down to an acceptable level.
