Q&A – How do I get rid of fire ants without affecting the food
I am growing?

Question:
How do I get rid of fire ants without affecting the food I am growing?

Answer:

You need to be careful what chemicals and baits you use around food crops. UT Extension Agent Celeste Scott says most of the ant baits on the market cannot be used around food crops. UT Assistant Professor of Residential and Consumer Horticulture Natalie Bumgarner says you can use baits that contain Spinosad as the active ingredient.
