Q&A – How do I keep squirrels from eating my tomatoes?
Question:
Is there anything I can do to stop squirrels from eating my tomatoes this year? They frustrated me last year.
Answer:
Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison says there is no sure-fire way to keep the squirrels out of the tomatoes. Repellents and decoys don’t last long. He does recommend some options. His go-to option is to shoot the squirrels. Other options include putting netting around the plants and getting dog. Mike says he has tried another method with pretty good success. Put a loud radio out in the garden. The changing voices and music seem to keep animals away.
