Q&A – How do I keep the neighbor’s cats from using my garden as a litter box?

Question:
How do I keep the neighbor’s cats from using my garden as a litter box?

Answer:

Cats like loose soil to do their business. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says you can put some rocks or chicken wire over the loose soil. UT Extension Agent Chris Cooper says cats don’t like the smell of lavender so you could try planting some of that.
