Q&A – How do I treat fungus on may crape myrtle?

Question:
How do I treat fungus on may crape myrtle?

Answer:

It depends what kind of fungus it is. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says it can either be powdery mildew or sooty mold. She tells how to treat each one. If it is sooty mold, you need to treat the insects feeding on the tree and the sooty mold will go away by itself. If it is powdery mildew, you can treat with a fungicide.
