Q&A – How late in the year can I fertilize my grass?

Question:
How late in the year can I fertilize my grass?

Answer:

It depends on the kind of grass you have. UT Extension Agent Booker T. Leigh says for warm season grasses like Bermuda and zoysia don’t fertilize with nitrogen after the middle of September. If you have cool season grasses fall is when they start to grow and they should be fertilized then.
