Q&A – I don’t want to mow my lawn. Are there any prairie-type grasses that grow in the Mid-South?
Question:
I don’t want to mow my lawn. Are there any prairie-type grasses that grow in the Mid-South?
Answer:
There are many prairie-type grasses available in this area but they tend to be tall. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says the shortest ones grow several feet high, and the tallest ones are about 10 feet. This may be larger than you want for a yard. Joellen identifies several shorter kinds of grass. To read the Extension publication Joellen references click here.
