Q&A – Is there a granular pre-emergent for fast growing, grassy weeds?

Question:
What granular pre-emergent would you recommend for control of johnson grass, crabgrass, nutsedge(if one exists)and other fast growing, grassy weeds in a Bermuda lawn? Should I put some down now and again in February/March? My goal is to control the weeds better for the 2020 mowing season as I have several acres to mow. I'm hoping a pre-emergent might reduce the need for spraying later in the season as well.

Answer:
Most of the pre-emergent herbicides that control the plants you listed are liquid. There are a few granular products on the market. UT Extension Agent Chris Cooper, Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison, and University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond go over some of the options.
