Q&A – My blueberry has a reddish tint on the branches. What is it?
Question:
I have bluecrop blueberry. It has this reddish tint on all the branches. The branches coming off of this doesn't produce many berries and they don't ripen well. Since the entire bush looks like this, should I remove the bush and start again or will copper fungicide help?
Answer:
The reddish tint to the stems is a result of stem canker. You should prune out all the affected branches and spray with a fungicide. Next time look for a resistant variety. This variety, Bluecrop, does not have resistance to the stem canker.
