Q&A – My gardenia’s leaves are turning yellow. Should I wait till spring to fertilize?
Question:
My hardy gardenia’s leaves are turning yellow this winter. Should I wait till spring to fertilize? What can I do in winter?
Answer:
Don’t apply fertilizer in the winter. It may cause a flush of new growth which will be killed by the cold weather. Wait until spring to fertilize. Gardenias get yellow leaves because the soil is too wet. They like to be planted in well drained soils.
