Q&A – My Japanese maple has a heavy infestation of scale. How can I help my tree recover?

Question:
My Japanese maple has a heavy infestation of scale. How can I help my tree recover?

Answer:

It is currently fall. You can use Neem oil which will smother the scale. UT Extension Agent Lee Sammons says you could also try to knock them off with a stream of water. It is also important to check for more scale next year and continue treatment.
