Q&A – My two pecan trees have not produced any pecans lately. What do I need to do?
Question: My two pecan trees have not produced any pecans lately. What do I need to do?
Answer:
Retired UT Extension Agent, Mike Dennison, offers some possibilities as to why they are not producing. His first thought is that they are no longer being pollinated. Pecans are wind pollinated and possibly a pecan tree nearby was removed. Mike explains how pecans are pollinated and how it requires at least one each of two types of tree. He also wonders if the trees are receiving enough fertilizer.
